ORRRC Broken Toe 50k, 25K and Ruck : Caesar Creek State Park

The event offers four trail race options at Caesar Creek State Park Campground in Wilmington, OH: a 50K ultra, a 25K, and ruck divisions for both distances. The course follows a roughly 16-mile loop through wooded terrain with rolling hills, gullies and occasional creek crossings, often running near Caesar Creek Lake. GPS devices may record between 15.6 and 16.5 miles per loop.

Course format and logistics:

  • 25K runners complete one loop; 50K runners complete two loops.
  • The loop begins and ends at the campground parking area and includes paved and single-track sections, Turkey Run and Ward Loop segments, lakefront trails, and creek crossings.
  • There are four aid stations: two manned (start area and the aid station near mile 9) offering snacks, Tailwind, water, hand sanitizer, menstrual products and porta-potties; and two unmanned stations (water only).
  • This is a cupless race; no cups will be provided at aid stations.
  • Drop bags are permitted at the start/finish for 50K participants.
  • Cutoff for all distances is 9.5 hours. 50K runners must meet the race's mid-race cutoff to begin the second loop; runners past that mark will not be permitted to continue.

Additional notes: registration deadlines affect swag and apparel availability, optional beanie and hoodie orders have an advance deadline, and ruck participants should follow the published minimum weight guidance and report their ruck weight at check-in.
