The Brasstown Bald Buster is a road event held at Brasstown Bald Visitor Center & Recreation Area in Hiawassee, GA. The primary event is a 5K road run covering 3.1 miles with approximately 1700 feet of ascent. A separate ruck division follows the same route.

The ruck division requires weight to be carried on the back: men carry 25 pounds and women carry 15 pounds. Ruck participants have a 2.5 hour time limit to reach the top. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall in both the 5K run and the ruck division.

All participants receive a T-shirt and a finisher medal; registering by April 10, 2026 guarantees a shirt. Registration closes April 23. There is no race day registration, and transfers, refunds, or deferments are not allowed. The event proceeds in all weather conditions.

Logistics note: parking is not permitted at the bottom or along any roads. Participants park at the top and proceed to the start area either on foot or via shuttle.
