Box Canyon Trail Races - Telluride, Colorado

The Box Canyon Trail Races comprise two loop courses in the high country around Telluride, Colorado. Routes travel through alpine terrain, ski-resort trails and canyon corridors, with notable changes in elevation and mixed surface conditions.

  • 30 K - roughly 5,800 ft vertical gain
  • 10 Mile - roughly 3,500 ft total elevation gain

The 30K route leaves Telluride and moves east toward Bridal Veil Falls, climbs rough double track past the Smuggler-Union Hydroelectric Plant into upper Bridal Veil Basin, crosses alpine meadows and reaches Wasatch Junction near 13,000 ft. The descent follows singletrack toward Upper Bear Creek, connects to the Wasatch Connector and finishes down ski-resort trails back into town. Terrain is varied and includes high alpine sections.

The 10 Mile course ascends the Bear Creek canyon to treeline and continues to the top of the Telluride Ski Resort, offering broad views of the San Juan Mountains. The return follows double track and singletrack through the ski area into Telluride.

Logistics note: bib pickup is available the Friday before race day and on race day at the start line; participants must check in at the start line for safety. Runners are responsible for carrying rain gear and warm clothing due to variable mountain weather. Registration opens March 1, 2026. Refunds, rollovers and transfers follow the organizer’s stated policies. Results are posted on Ultrasignup within 48 hours after the event.
