Event Overview

The Box Canyon Trail Races take place in Telluride, Colorado. The event offers two race distances: a 30K and a 10 Mile run.

Race Courses

The 30K race is a loop course through high-alpine terrain. The route passes Bridal Veil Falls and the Smuggler-Union Hydroelectric Plant, ascends into Bridal Veil Basin, and reaches a high point at Wasatch Junction at approximately 13,000 feet. The course then descends through Upper Bear Creek and finishes with a descent from the Telluride Ski Resort back into town. The total elevation gain is roughly 5,800 feet.

The 10 Mile race is also a loop. It ascends Bear Creek Canyon to the treeline and continues to the top of the Telluride Ski Resort before descending back into Telluride. This race features about 3,500 feet of total elevation gain.

Logistics

Bib pickup is available the day before the race at a specified gear shop and on race day at the start line. The start and finish area is at the Oak Street Gondola plaza. The organizer notes that this is a mountain race where runners are responsible for carrying appropriate gear for variable weather.
