53rd Annual Imogene Pass Run

The Imogene Pass Run is a mountain trail race covering a distance of 17.1 miles between the towns of Ouray and Telluride, Colorado. The course reaches high elevations, crossing the Imogene Pass summit at 10 miles. This event is intended for well prepared athletes who can navigate steep, rocky, and potentially icy or snow-covered ascents and descents.

Participants must adhere to the following course details:

Strict cutoff times are enforced throughout the route for the safety of participants and volunteers. The first checkpoint is at Upper Camp Bird (7.6 miles), followed by the summit of Imogene Pass (10 miles), with the final timing at the finish line in Telluride. Participants who do not reach these checkpoints within the allotted time frames are required to withdraw or may be disqualified.

The race environment is subject to hostile weather conditions, including subfreezing temperatures, wind, rain, snow, and fog. Recommended attire includes a hat, gloves, and a jacket, with polypropylene base layers and waterproof materials suggested. Six aid stations are positioned along the course to provide liquids and snacks, though the first station offers liquids only.

Registration is limited to 1,550 entrants and all participants must be at least 15 years of age on race day. A valid picture ID is required for check-in. The event provides complimentary bus transportation between Ouray and Telluride for participants and volunteers at scheduled times.
