High Five 100 : Lake City, CO

The High Five 100 is a self navigated 100 Miler that begins and ends in Lake City, Colorado. The route is not marked and there are no organized aid stations; entry is free and no finisher medal is provided.

Participants must visit 24 specified locations along the course, divided into proof points and checkpoints. Checkpoints are the only places where runners may receive aid from their crew or from a designated drop bag. Proof point procedures are explained at the pre challenge meeting the evening before the event. Runners choose their own route between the required locations but must visit all points in the prescribed order.

To be recognized as a finisher a runner must return to Lake City within a 48 hour cutoff. Organizers estimate the most practical route will be between about 90 and 105 miles with over 40,000 feet of elevation gain. The indicated routing includes summiting five 14,000 foot peaks and six 13,000 foot peaks and travels through rugged terrain in the San Juans.

The event was created by local ultra runners in 2018. Participants are expected to follow wilderness regulations and to respect the land. Registration for this edition closed on January 31, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
