High Five 100 - Lake City, CO

The High Five 100 is a self navigated mountain challenge based in Lake City, Colorado. The event centers on a route that requires runners to visit 24 specified locations, made up of proof points and checkpoints. Checkpoints are the only places where a crew or a provided drop bag may offer aid. Proof points are used to verify presence at the required locations; instructions for proof points are given at a pre challenge meeting the evening before the event.

Participants choose their own route between the points but must visit all points in the prescribed order and return to Lake City within a 48 hour cutoff to be recognized as a finisher. The most practical route is estimated to be between 90 and 105 miles with over 40,000 ft of elevation gain. Completion involves summiting five 14ers and six 13ers and traversing rugged terrain in the San Juan Mountains.

Organizers do not charge an entry fee, do not mark a course, and do not provide aid stations. Finishers do not receive a medal. Runners are expected to follow wilderness regulations and show respect for the land.

Registration for this edition closed on Sat. Jan 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
