High Five 100 : Lake City, Colorado

The High Five 100 is a self-guided 100 Miler challenge based in Lake City, Colorado. The route requires visiting 24 specified locations that are divided into proof points and checkpoints. Checkpoints are the only places where crew or the runner's drop bag may provide aid. Proof points are used to verify passage; instructions for proof points are disclosed at the pre-challenge meeting held the evening before the event.

Participants must visit all points in the required order and may choose their own route between them. To be recognized as a finisher, runners must return to Lake City within a 48 hour cutoff. Organizers estimate the most practical route to be between 90 and 105 miles with over 40,000 ft of elevation gain. Completion involves summiting five 14ers and six 13ers and traversing rugged terrain in the San Juan Mountains.

The event does not charge an entry fee, does not mark a course, and does not provide aid stations. There is no finisher medal. Participants are expected to follow wilderness regulations and show respect for the land. Registration for the listed date closed on January 31, 2026.
