Ouray 50 Mile Endurance Run

The Ouray 50 Mile Endurance Run is a 50 mile mountain ultramarathon held in Ouray, Colorado on August 29, 2026. The route uses highly technical, unforgiving trails at high elevation and was derived from the Ouray 100 course. Total elevation gain for the race is 23,582 feet and the average elevation is nearly two miles above sea level. The event uses a broken windshield race format and finishes with a simple two cone finish.

Each participant must complete eight hours of volunteer service prior to August 15, 2026. Service can be completed by volunteering at a trail ultramarathon or doing physical trail work; crewing, pacing, and coaching do not qualify. Participants may opt out of the service requirement by making a one hundred dollar donation to the Ouray Trail Group. Entrants who have not submitted their service form or paid the opt out fee by August 22, 2026 will forfeit their registration fee and will not be permitted to participate.

Runners are required to carry a SPOT tracker provided by the organizers. Location updates are published every five minutes. The top male finisher receives five hundred dollars and the top female finisher receives six hundred twenty five dollars, with payment contingent on urine and or blood testing for banned substances.
