Boom or Bust Ultra Trail Run - Pioche, NV

The Boom or Bust Ultra Trail Run takes place June 13, 2026 on the Prospector Trails just outside Pioche, Nevada. The event is staged on newly constructed single-track mountain bike trails in a high-desert valley at about 5,482 ft elevation (37.8738, -114.4325).

The course is a roughly 14-mile loop composed of about 12.5 miles of single-track and a short 1.5-mile two-track connector. Each lap has approximately 1,440 feet of elevation gain and loss and is run counterclockwise. The route passes multiple intersections and offers views of the surrounding mountain ranges and valley.

Distances offered:

  • 100 mile - 7 laps (98 mi) plus 2-mile out and back
  • 60 mile - 4 laps (56 mi) plus 4-mile out and back
  • 30 mile - 2 laps (28 mi) plus 2-mile out and back

There are two aid station areas: the Mineshaft Aid Station at a central 6-way intersection, which runners encounter multiple times per lap, and the Mining Camp Aid Station at the start/finish area. Aid stations are spaced roughly every 3 to 4 miles and are stocked with water, Tailwind electrolytes, food, broth, fruit, and soda. Drop bags are allowed only at the Mineshaft Aid Station. Crews may support runners at the Mining Camp area; crews and pacers are not permitted at the Mineshaft Aid Station.

Pacers are permitted for the 100 mile and 60 mile distances beginning on lap four at the Mining Camp area. Runners age 60 and older may have a pacer for the entire race; only one pacer may accompany a runner at a time. All pacers must start and finish at the Mining Camp area and complete event registration.

Participants must display their bib visibly and check in with timing staff before starting subsequent laps. If a registered distance is not completed, the result will be recorded as DNF; a finisher medal may still be issued for miles completed. Entry fees are listed for each distance and registration closes on June 10, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
