Black to the Trails is a trail running event organized by Black Trail Runners. It aims to be the United Kingdom's most ethnically diverse trail running event. It is designed for Black people, people of colour, and White allies to help increase ethnic diversity in UK trail running.

Event Details

The event will take place on Sunday 10th May 2026 at The National Trust’s Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Estate in the South East. The venue opens at 09:00, with the first run starting at 10:00. The event is inclusive and open to all abilities.

Running Distances

Participants can choose from four trail running distances:

  • 1K
  • 5K
  • 10K
  • Scotch Bonnet 10K

The staggered start times allow participants to enter more than one run distance if they wish. Participants under 16 enter for free. Age restrictions apply: the 1K is open to all ages (under 12s must be accompanied by an adult), the 5K for ages 12 and above, and the 10K and Scotch Bonnet 10K for ages 16 and above.

Festival and Activities

Beyond the runs, the event features a festival atmosphere with various activities. These include face painting, kite flying, food concessions, DJs, and live run commentary. Finishers receive a Black to the Trails medal and a goody bag. Black Trail Runners merchandise, such as buffs, socks, t-shirts, and hoodies, will also be available for purchase. Trail runs nearby

Riverside races at Wraysbury Skiff & Punting Club near historic Runnymede. Marathon, half marathon and 10 km run on flat out and back laps along the Thames with marked turnarounds, check points and chip timing.

Looped trail and road races in Chalfont St Peter where runners choose on the day between 7k, longer loops, marathon and ultra marathon distances with aid, pacing and crew support.

Multi terrain 10 km race starting and finishing at Windsor & Eton Brewery beside the River Thames. The route follows the Thames and Jubilee River and finishers receive a medal, a Windsor & Eton pint cup and a free drink.

This event offers three distances—50 km, 25 km, and 10 km—through the scenic Chiltern Hills, starting and finishing in Amersham. It supports the charity Humanity Direct, with free entry available for fundraisers. The route explores villages..
