Mendip Marauder

Mendip Marauder is an ultra running event offering two point-to-point races in Somerset that follow the Mendip Way and West Mendip Way. Distances:

• 30 Miler : entire West Mendip Way
• 50 Miler : entire Mendip Way then follows the 30 mile route

The route passes woodland, rolling countryside, hilltops with panoramic views, Ebbor Gorge steps, Cheddar and Black Rock Nature Reserve, and finishes at Uphill Sands Beach in Weston-Super-Mare. Total elevation gain is listed as 4,161 ft for the 30 Miler and 5,516 ft for the 50 Miler. Course markings are provided for most sections; a GPX file and written notes are supplied with race information as a backup.

Aid stations: the 30 Miler uses three stations and the 50 Miler uses five. Stations provide water, coke, squash, sandwiches, snacks and fruit, and the race is cupless so runners must carry bottles or cups. Cut-off times are 8 hours for the 30 Miler and 14 hours for the 50 Miler.

Professional medical cover is provided and emergency instructions are included in the race information. Coach transport from the finish to registration towns is available for a small additional fee. Pacers are not permitted; a buddy runner is allowed later in the 50 Miler. Small tagged drop bags to the finish are permitted. Trophies are awarded to first male and first female finishers and all finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
