Mendip Marauder (8 August 2026)

The Mendip Marauder is an endurance trail event held on 8 August 2026 with two distance options:

  • 30 miles
  • 50 miles

Both races finish at Uphill Sands Beach, Weston-Super-Mare. The 30 miler follows the entire West Mendip Way. The 50 miler follows the East Mendip Way and then joins the 30 mile route. Elevation gain is listed as 4,161 ft for the 30 miler and 5,516 ft for the 50 miler. The route passes through woodland, rolling countryside, hilltops with wide views, and coastal finish scenery. Notable features on the course include Ebbor Gorge, Wells Cathedral and moat around the Bishop’s Palace, Charlton Viaduct, Cheddar Reservoir, Black Rock Nature Reserve, Wavering Down and the pine forest near Rowberrow.

Course support, rules and logistics

The 30 miler has 3 aid stations and the 50 miler has 5. The race is cupless; runners must carry at least one 500 ml water bottle and a cup if they want paper cups. Aid stations provide water, coke, squash, sandwiches, crisps, fruit, nuts, sweets and other snacks. Cut-off times are 8 hours for the 30 miler (not strictly enforced) and 14 hours for the 50 miler (strictly enforced). Professional medical cover is provided and race information with GPX/written notes is issued before the event. Pacers are not allowed; a buddy runner is permitted late in the 50 miler. Small drop bags to the finish are allowed. A list of suggested kit is provided; there is a trophy for first male and first female finishers and a medal for all finishers. Trail runs nearby

Run under starlit skies in the Dark Skies Series, a winter night trail series across Somerset offering three events with 5km or 10km routes. Enter single races or the full series and order a bespoke wooden finisher medal.

Take on the Riverbank Rollick, a scenic 9.6 mile trail run along riverbanks, woodland and fields with about 80% off road and likely muddy January conditions. Finishers get a bespoke buff and a linkable metal medal in the Thornbury series.

Tackle scenic mixed terrain around Cosmeston Lakes in the CF64 Winter Race, a 6.4 mile off road challenge through woodland, meadows and trails. Join fellow runners on Sunday 18 January 2026 for a spirited winter test of fitness.

Take on the Wiltshire 10, a scenic 10 mile road race from Melksham to historic Lacock and back, with medals for all finishers and age category prizes. Entries capped at 300, book before 1 February 2026 as no entries on race day.
