The Hilly Helmet Challenge X

The Hilly Helmet Challenge is scheduled for 5 August 2026 at Leighton Recreation Centre in Westbury. The event is a road and trail run over a course of 4 miles that includes uphill and downhill sections.

The event raises funds for the charity Brain Tumour Support. Organisers state that 100% of entry fees are received by the charity, while event costs are covered by partners. The event has held an Association of Running Clubs race permit and has received participant-based awards from Racecheck in 2019, 2022 and 2024.

Every participant receives a pottery memento. Prizes are provided for the first male and first female finishers and for the best decorated helmet worn on the night. In previous years Leighton Recreation Centre has provided facilities and Westbury Cricket Club has supplied refreshments and a barbecue.

The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs. For safety reasons runners are not permitted to run with dogs, as some trails are narrow and may become slippery in wet weather.

Entry fees are listed as £19 standard and £17 with a discount for members of eligible clubs. On the night entry fees are higher. The event lists 150 total places and is advertised as open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
