The Stur Half

The Stur Half is a community road race organised by the Dorset Doddlers around rural roads in and around Sturminster Newton, Dorset. The event for 2026 takes place on Sunday 2nd August and includes a half marathon and a separate multi-terrain 5K. The race has been held since 1990 and is sponsored by Honeybuns Bakery with support from local businesses such as Harts of Stur, Symonds & Sampson and Root & Vine.

The event is run as a Dorset Road Race League event and is organised in accordance with UKA rules; permit details are listed as TBA. Course measurement is recorded as South of England 23/294. Race facilities and services noted by participants include free parking, frequent water stations and marshals along the route, a race T-shirt and cake at the finish. While the races take place, children’s races are organised on the school field.

Entry fees for 2026 are published as follows: the half marathon is £23 affiliated or £25 unaffiliated, and the 5K is £7 for all runners.
