The Stur Half and 5K : Sturminster Newton, Dorset

The Stur Half is a road half marathon organised by the Dorset Doddlers, held on rural roads in and around Sturminster Newton. The event has taken place since 1990 and includes a multi-terrain 5k plus children's races on the school field while the adult races run.

Race features include chip timing, free parking, and a race village with food and drink. Finishers receive a wooden race medal and a Honeybun cake. There are multiple water stations and marshals along the route. The event is organised in accordance with UKA rules (Permit No. 30847) and is a Dorset Road Race League event; the course has an official measurement reference.

Entry details published by the organiser state entry fees: the half marathon is £23 affiliated or £25 unaffiliated, and the 5k is £7. Online entries close at 12 noon on Friday 31st July; day entries may be taken for an extra £2 if places remain. Runners are asked to give a predicted time when entering and the half marathon has a three hour time limit.

A four-mile hill run in Westbury on 5 August 2026 supporting Brain Tumour Support, with 100% of entry fees to the charity, pottery mementos, prizes for finishers and best helmet, and specific accessibility and dog restrictions.

A scenic evening cross-country event at North Perrott Cricket Club offering a two-lap 10K and an approximate 6K fun run, limited to 250 entries, cupless with water stations, chip timing and proceeds supporting local community projects.
