The MTC Cotswold Ultra - event details

The MTC Cotswold Ultra takes place on 6 August 2026. The race distance is 57 miles with approximately 370 m ascent and 474 m descent. The event starts at Kemble Station and finishes at Travelodge Oxford Abingdon Road. Entry is advertised at £90 for an individual solo entry; deposits and payments are non refundable. Entrants must be 20 years or over on the start day. UTMB points and the course record are listed as to be announced.

All finishers receive a bespoke Cotswold Ultra medal and competitors are given an MTC head visor. Bespoke trophies are awarded to the first male and first female finishers. The race head sponsor supplies a complimentary visor to competitors and provides prize shoes for first place male and female finishers.

Route, checkpoints and requirements

The route follows the Thames Path from Kemble, to the river source and back, then through Somerford Keynes, Cricklade, Castle Eaton, Blackford Farm, Lechlade, Shifford Lock, Newbridge and Bablock Hythe before finishing in Oxford. There are four staffed checkpoints that provide water and food items such as malt loaf, sandwiches, nuts, dried fruit, sweets, squash, cola and water. Competitors are responsible for travel to the start and from the finish and must be self-sufficient.

Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, OS map or downloadable maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid kit.
