The Summer GMU : Green Man Ultra (22 August 2026)

The Summer Green Man Ultra is held as two organised race options over the Community Forest Path around Bristol. Both distances run the course clockwise and share the same checkpoints and finish location, with different start locations.

  • 45 miles: full clockwise loop, starts and finishes at Ashton Park School.
  • 30 miles (Green Boy): partial clockwise loop, starts at The White Horse, Hambrook, finishes at Ashton Park School.

The event is self-navigation; GPX files and a written route booklet are provided. Chip timing is used at the start and finish, with manual timing at checkpoints, and electronic tracking is in place from 2026. An overall 12-hour time limit applies for completion of the principal event. Checkpoints provide basic food and drink; hot food is available at the finish. Finishers receive a GMU medal and bespoke race merchandise is available as an optional purchase.

Prizes and awards include podium trophies, veteran awards, and free entry to the following year for the first male and female in each race category. Entrants must be aged 20 or over and carry mandatory kit; random bag checks are carried out. The organiser publishes full rules, a mandatory kit list, and navigation guidance before the event.
