The Summer GMU
The Summer Mount to Coast Green Man Ultra is held on the Community Forest Path in and around Bristol and is offered in two distances on the same day, sharing checkpoints and the same finish location.
- 45 miles full clockwise loop starting and finishing at Ashton Park School
- 30 miles partial clockwise loop starting at The White Horse Hambrook and finishing at Ashton Park School
The route is self navigated. GPX files and a written course booklet are provided and there are appointed timelords who offer navigation and pacing guidance for set target times. From 2026 the event will include real time tracking for competitors. Checkpoints are provided along the course to monitor times and well being and to supply water and basic food; examples of checkpoint provisions include sandwiches, malt loaf, cake, water, squash and hot drinks. The race operates cup free so competitors should bring a reusable cup. Hot food is available at the finish.
All finishers receive a bespoke Green Man medal; race shirts are available as an optional extra at checkout from 2026. Trophies and free entry to the following year are awarded to overall and category winners. There are mandatory kit requirements, random bag checks, and an age minimum of 20 years. Completion rules include checkpoint cut offs to ensure the event can be completed within a 12 hour window and entrants must carry required safety and navigation equipment.
