The Black Cattle Ultra Gwartheg Duon is scheduled for 29 August 2026 at Cardiff Harlequins RFC, Diamond Ground, Forest Farm Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff CF14 7JN. The event is organised by Ridge Runners, a not-for-profit community of running clubs from across South Wales. Entries open 30 August 2025 and close 23 August 2026. Minimum age for both courses is 18. Entry fees listed are £90.00 for the longer course and £80.00 for the shorter course. The event page shows two participants registered at the time the information was published. Courses and route

Two point-to-point ultra routes follow the Cambrian Way into Cardiff and pass Castell Coch near the finish. The routes include mountain fells, woodlands, valleys and villages. Aid stations, indoor toilets and food stations are provided on the course.

  • 44 miles - 71K Ultra (starts at Llanthony Priory)
  • 33 miles - 53K Ultra (starts in Abergavenny, about 11 miles into the 44-mile route)

The 33-mile course begins with a climb of the Blorenge, passes through Pontypool and Risca and visits the Machen Races venue before traversing the Cefn Onn ridge toward Cardiff. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
