Black Forest Ultra
Black Forest Ultra is a 100K trail ultramarathon held near North Bend, Pennsylvania, at 86 Hyner Park Road. The course runs on the Black Forest Trail through the Pennsylvania Wilds and includes long climbs, ridge-top views, and varied forest types such as pine plantations, giant hemlocks, and red spruce in peak fall color.
Some climbs involve elevation gains of more than 1,000 ft in under a mile. The route is a lollipop course with more than 13,400 ft of total elevation gain. The course direction reverses each year so that the majority of elevation gain alternates between the front and back halves of the course. Runners have a strict time limit of 19 hours to complete the 100K.
Event rules restrict outside support: crews, pacers, and spectators are not permitted. Event materials include bib pickup locations, course maps, aid station charts, results, photos, and service requirements. The race is linked to the Pennsylvania Triple Crown and the Blacklist series; the Black Forest Ultra serves as the final race for those pursuing completion of the Triple Crown plus this 100K in a single season.
Registration closes on Sun, Sep 20 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
