The route is a lollipop course with more than 13,400 ft of total elevation gain. Some climbs exceed 1,000 ft in under a mile. The course direction reverses each year, so the majority of the elevation gain alternates between the front and back halves of the route. The event uses a strict 19 hour cutoff. Crews, pacers, and spectators are not permitted.
