Black Forest Ultra

Black Forest Ultra is a 100k trail race scheduled for October 4, 2026, at Hyner Run State Park near North Bend, Pennsylvania. The event has a capacity of 200 runners. Registration opens January 1, 2026 at 6pm on a first come, first served basis; the entry fee is $155 through February 1, 2026 and $180 starting February 2, 2026. Entrants must complete a qualifying race before registering and registration details and policies are published by the organizers.

The course is a lollipop loop with more than 13,400 feet of elevation gain and includes sections with elevation gains over 1,000 feet in under a mile. The route passes through multiple forest types including pine plantations, giant hemlocks, and red spruce, and offers extended mountain views. The course reverses direction each year so that the distribution of elevation gain shifts between the front and back halves. Race rules specify no crews, no pacers, and no spectators. Participants are subject to a 19 hour time limit and to review by the race directors during the registration process. Qualification standards require at minimum completion of a 50k trail race within the advertised cut-off time within three years; exceptions for other difficult races may be considered and qualifying races must be official with published results.
