Event Details
The Boulder Beast is a trail running event held in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. The start and finish area is located at the Castanea Township Fire Company picnic grounds. The event takes place on trails known as Goat Path, Lightning Ridge, Gut Check, Black Diamond, Crossover, Fleming Way, Chestnut Flats, and the Gorge Trail.

Course Information
The course is known for its boulder field. The organizers note that the event is demanding and requires rigorous training due to the tough and diverse terrain. There are strict cut-off times at various aid stations along the course to ensure participants finish in daylight. Aid station names include Boy Scout AS, Zindel Park AS, Vets+ AS, and Leadership CC AS.
For the 25-mile distance, if a runner arrives at the Boy Scout aid station after 11:00 AM, they will be automatically directed onto the 25K course. For the 25K distance, runners must reach the bottom of the boulder field by 10:30 AM. The first 3.5 miles are on road.
Logistics
Registration opens on December 16th and is limited to the first 600 runners, with a registration deadline of September 1st. There are no refunds, bib transfers, deferments, or transfers of registration permitted.
There is free parking and camping space available at the start/finish area, with no reservations needed. A pre-race party and bag pick-up are scheduled for the Friday evening before the event from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. After the race, there is a post-race picnic with food and beverages.
