Think Big Trail Challenge : South Williamsport, PA
The Think Big Trail Challenge is a trail running event on the Williamsport Water Authority property at 1600 Mosquito Valley Rd in South Williamsport, PA. The event offers two distances:
- 10K
- 5K
Courses run on a mix of singletrack and gravel roads with rolling and steeper sections. The Bluebird Trail features forest paths and gentle inclines and serves as the final approach to the finish. The Pocowanache Trail includes steeper climbs, rocky terrain, and winding descents and appears on the extended 10K route. Terrain descriptions note smooth singletrack, rugged climbs, and fast flowing descents.
The 5K follows gravel and local roads before entering Shelterwood Trail and the Aqueduct Trail, transitioning to the Bluebird Trail at the historic Remington Ruins and finishing on Bluebird. The 10K follows the 5K route and then continues up Remington Road onto the Pocowanache Trail to a vista, then returns to the 5K finish via the Green Bridge and Bluebird Trail.
There is one aid station at the Green Bridge for both distances. Awards are given for first place male and female in the following groups: 14 and under, 15 to 19, and ten year age groups up to 60 plus, for both 5K and 10K. The event is the former Salvation Army race and proceeds benefit the Think Big Pediatric Cancer Fund in memory of an individual. Registration opens May 16 and closes September 20. Limited parking is noted and carpooling is encouraged. Race swag is guaranteed for the first 200 registrants and remaining swag is first come first served. Both distances are listed at $30 and race day registration is available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
