The Think Big Trail Challenge takes place on Oct 4, 2026 at 1600 Mosquito Valley Rd, South Williamsport, PA. The event is held on trails managed by the Williamsport Water Authority and is the successor to a former Salvation Army race. Distances offered include:

  • 5K

Course and logistics

Both courses use a mix of gravel roads, singletrack, and trail sections. The 5K route follows Remington Road, Remington Ruins, Aqueduct Trail, and finishes on the Bluebird Trail. The 10K follows the 5K route and continues onto the Pocowanache Trail before returning to the Bluebird Trail for the finish. Terrain includes smooth singletrack, rocky sections, steeper climbs, and flowing descents. One aid station will be located at the Green Bridge. Parking is limited, and carpooling is suggested. Registration opens May 16, 2026, and race day registration will be available. Race swag is guaranteed for the first 200 registrants; remaining swag is first come, first served.

Awards and beneficiary

Proceeds will benefit the Think Big Pediatric Cancer Fund. Awards are planned for first place male and female in the following categories: 14 and under, 15-19, and then 10-year age groups up to 60+ for both the 5K and 10K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Trail runs nearby

Frozen Snot is a winter trail race in McElhattan PA on steep technical terrain with boulder fields, rope assisted descents and icy conditions. Limited to 350 runners, it offers 25K, long and short courses for tough cold weather runners.

Enjoy a crisp winter 4 mile trail run through woodland at RB Winter State Park near Mifflinburg, PA, followed by a cozy post race gathering with hot soup and food. Finishers receive a bottle of wine or grape juice.

Fire on the Rocks 10K is an intermediate trail run at Zindel Park featuring about 6.5 to 6.6 miles and 1,400 feet of climbing across rugged singletrack and ridgelines. Enjoy sweeping views and sticky buns at the finish.

The Rider Rattler will take place in Montoursville on Saturday 28 March 2026. You can run between 4 and 8 miles.
