Bitterroot Runoff Trail Runs
The Bitterroot Runoff Trail Runs take place Saturday April 18, 2026 on the Rossignol Ranch just west of Lolo, Montana. The event offers multiple trail distances on private singletrack and doubletrack routes across ponderosa pine terrain and open meadows.
Distances include:
- 5k
- 5 Mile
- 10 Mile
Courses and climbing: the 5k has about 500 feet of climbing, mostly in the first mile. The 5 Mile route climbs approximately 1,000 feet and descends back to the finish via the "Owl Alley" singletrack. The 10 Mile course includes about 2,025 feet of climbing, reaches a highpoint near mile 4, and passes the main aid station twice.
Aid stations and services: the 10 Mile course has an aid station at miles 2 and 6.5, the 5 Mile course has one at mile 2, and the 5k has no aid station. Stations provide water, gels, electrolyte drink, and snacks. Packet pickup is available the day before and on race day. Parking is limited.
Post-race and race extras include a homemade pancake brunch with sausage and fruit plus gluten free and vegetarian options, a Big Sky Brewery post-race beverage, race shirts and a 2026 finisher award, Hammer Nutrition products at aid, free post-race massage, and a trail festival with vendors, shoe demos, and a raffle.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall and to top male and female in age groups 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Overall awards use gun time; age group awards use chip time. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
