Beast Of The Beacons

The Beast of the Beacons is a trail running event on 17 April 2027 based at Henderson Hall in Talybont on Usk within the Brecon Beacons National Park. The route follows marked trails through forests, mountains, rivers and reservoirs and includes a mix of rocky paths, forest tracks and muddy sections. Snow can still be present on the course. Distances offered - 10 Miles / 16 KM - 20 Miles / 32.5 KM - 40 Miles / 65 KM The 40 Mile course uses the 20 Mile route in reverse as a second lap.

The event is canicross friendly; dogs must be at least 12 months old, fit to run, kept on the lead at all times, and owners are responsible for their dogs. Canicross participants are not eligible for the main trophies. Checkpoints are described as well stocked and cater for dietary requirements including vegan options. Typical checkpoint supplies include nuts, bananas, biscuits, crisps, electrolytes, soft drinks, water and occasionally homemade cake.

Facilities at the event base include local accommodation within walking distance, food vans, toilets, a coffee van, pubs and cafes nearby, and a full medical team. A detailed mandatory kit list is required and will be checked at registration; items include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest or pack, capacity for one litre of fluid, map or GPX file, charged mobile phone, appropriate footwear, first aid items, foil blanket, head torch and whistle. Hospice of the Valleys Inflatable 5k in Cardiff on 27 June 2026 features 5 km and 10 km distances with individual and group entry options and fees of £15 and £20 respectively.

A four hour score event in the Camarthen Fans using pre marked waterproof maps and a full course of about 20 miles. Entry by pre entry costs £10 and includes food, tea, coffee and cake.

A new hill race at the Tintern Village Fete on 27 June 2026 with a 4.2 km course and 215 m ascent, starting and finishing in the Fete Field and running over bridge, stone steps, steep paths and forestry road. Entry on the day £5.

The Double Dipdab 2 will take place in Llywel on Sunday 28 June 2026. You can run between 7 and 5 miles.
