Beast Of The Beacons

The Beast of the Beacons is a trail running event on 17 April 2027 based at Henderson Hall in Talybont on Usk within the Brecon Beacons National Park. The route follows marked trails through forests, mountains, rivers and reservoirs and includes a mix of rocky paths, forest tracks and muddy sections. Snow can still be present on the course. Distances offered - 10 Miles / 16 KM - 20 Miles / 32.5 KM - 40 Miles / 65 KM The 40 Mile course uses the 20 Mile route in reverse as a second lap.

The event is canicross friendly; dogs must be at least 12 months old, fit to run, kept on the lead at all times, and owners are responsible for their dogs. Canicross participants are not eligible for the main trophies. Checkpoints are described as well stocked and cater for dietary requirements including vegan options. Typical checkpoint supplies include nuts, bananas, biscuits, crisps, electrolytes, soft drinks, water and occasionally homemade cake.

Facilities at the event base include local accommodation within walking distance, food vans, toilets, a coffee van, pubs and cafes nearby, and a full medical team. A detailed mandatory kit list is required and will be checked at registration; items include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest or pack, capacity for one litre of fluid, map or GPX file, charged mobile phone, appropriate footwear, first aid items, foil blanket, head torch and whistle. Trail runs nearby

A 26.2 mile trail marathon near Bridgend on 23 May 2026 with mixed terrain, quarry and forestry sections, five feed stations and a GPX route. Entry was limited to 60 participants aged 18 or over.

Crocodile 8 on 24 May 2026 is a hilly trail and tarmac race around Tillington and Burghill with music en route and an after-event party at Burghill Community Academy. Senior and junior distances are available.

An off-road race in Dursley on 25 May 2026 covering about 10.31 km with 318 m of climb, visiting Cam Peak, Cam Long Down, Uley Bury and Downham Hill. Entries are limited to 120 and handled via Entry Central.

A 5 km fell race near Pengenffordd in South Wales with about 320 m of climb and a route that requires navigational skills. Junior races are available from age 7 and the event is insured by the WFRA.
