The Baslow Bolt is a winter fell race on 29th November 2025 that follows a mixed-terrain route along the Baslow skyline. The course is a Category BM fell race, run on woodland and pasture paths and trails with minimum road running. The route climbs away from Baslow through fields towards Hassop, proceeds along a ridge path through Bank Wood and Bramley Wood, descends to the River Derwent and Calver/Curbar, then climbs to Baslow Edge on limestone and gritstone before descending Bar Road into Baslow. The total elevation gain is approximately 400 m and the race distance is 13.2 km. Routes are marked and marshalled, and the event is run under the Fell Running Association (FRA) rules.

Practical information

Entry is by online registration only; the field is capped at 400 runners. The published entry fee is £13; there are no on-the-day entries and no refunds. Minimum age is 18. Race numbers and timing chips are collected at registration at St Anne’s C of E Primary School, Baslow. The event is FRA licensed and participants should be prepared to run with the FRA mandatory minimum kit. All proceeds go to Baslow St Anne’s Primary School PTFA and Baslow St Anne’s Church buildings restoration fund, and this year also support the charity Shelter.
