Minninglow March
The Minninglow March is a circular trail event starting and ending in the village of Parwich, located in the Derbyshire Dales north of Ashbourne. The course covers approximately 17 miles with a total elevation gain of 2,000 ft. The event is open to participants aged 18 and older, welcoming both runners and fast walkers.
The route requires self-navigation using a mixture of public rights of way, established trails, and open access land. Participants are expected to be proficient in using a GPX navigation system on a watch or phone, or a physical map and compass. A mandatory kit must be carried by all entrants throughout the duration of the event.
The course features three aid stations located at the following intervals:
- 3.5 miles: On the High Peak Trail after the initial climb.
- 9.4 miles: Before the descent into Carsington Village.
- 14 miles: Near the church in Bradbourne.
Participants take part in a specific activity called The Quest, which involves collecting cards from two separate points of interest along the route and delivering them to the finish line. The event operates with a total cut-off time of 6 hours, requiring a minimum average pace of approximately 3 miles per hour over hilly trail terrain.
Entry includes dedicated parking in Parwich, a finishers memento embroidered patch, a goody bag with light refreshments, and free to download event photos. Results are typically published within 24 hours of completion. Please note that dogs are not permitted at this event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
