Blacka Moor Chase
Sheffield, United Kingdom • 16 Jul 2026
Event Details
The Blacka Moor Chase is a trail race of approximately 6.7 km with an overall climb of around 270 metres. It is held under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules, categorised as BS. The minimum age for participants is 18 years. The race takes place on the 16th of July, starting and finishing outside the Totley AC pavilion near the Cricket Inn in Sheffield. The entry limit is 250 runners.
The Course
The route starts with a lap of a cricket pitch before heading onto Strawberry Lee Lane. It includes a short, sharp climb up to Totley Moor, leading to the top of Blacka Moor Woods. The descent follows technical paths and tracks down the steep 'Piper Gate'. The final section returns to Strawberry Lee Lane for a fast finish back at the cricket pitch. The entire route uses Public Rights of Way (PRoW). Runners must stay on the designated paths and pass all checkpoints in sequence.
Facilities and Logistics
The Totley AC pavilion offers toilets, showers, changing rooms, and water. Participants are asked to bring their own cup or bottle. Parking at the venue is very limited; car-sharing, walking, jogging, cycling, or using public transport (the 97 bus stops a five-minute walk away) are encouraged.
Requirements and Prizes
The required kit is at the Race Organiser's discretion based on weather, but runners should bring FRA Best Practice kit. Mandatory kit inspections may be performed. A prize-giving ceremony is held in the bar area after the race. Prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers, the first Totley AC runner, and winners in various age categories from 18-23 to V70. Spot prizes are also available.
Entry
Entry costs £8, available via pre-entry online or on the day if the race is not full. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
