Blacka Moor Chase (Totley AC)

Blacka Moor Chase is a trail/fell race organised from the Totley AC pavilion on the playing field behind the Cricket Inn in Totley, Sheffield. The course is listed with a distance of approximately 6.7–7.1 km and total climb of about 252–272 m. The event holds an FRA permit and associated UK Athletics insurance.

Course and logistics

The route starts and finishes at the Totley AC pavilion and is entirely on public rights of way. The outward section includes a lap of the field and a roughly 1 km tarmac stretch along Strawberry Lee Lane before a climb onto Totley Moor and across fields to Blacka Moor Woods. The descent follows technical paths and tracks down the steep "Piper Gate", includes stepping stones, and returns via Strawberry Lee Lane. Marshals and marked checkpoints are used and the race is run on a fixed route; competitors must follow the indicated path. The organiser may require FRA best practice kit and may perform kit inspections. Facilities at the pavilion include toilets, showers and changing rooms; water is available but runners are asked to bring their own cup or bottle. Parking is very limited and car sharing or alternative travel is encouraged. There is an entry limit and prize categories for overall and age-group placings.
