Blacka Moor Chase - trail race

Blacka Moor Chase is a trail race organised by Totley AC that takes place on 16 July 2026. The route starts and finishes outside the Totley AC pavilion on the playing field behind the Cricket Inn at Totley, Sheffield S17 3AZ. The course is approximately 6.7 km long with about 270 m of ascent and follows public rights of way throughout.

The route leaves the field onto a roughly 1 km tarmac stretch along Strawberry Lee Lane, then climbs onto Totley Moor and across the fields to Blacka Moor Woods. Runners descend technical paths and tracks including the very steep Piper Gate, pass stepping stones and return along Strawberry Lee Lane to the finish. The woodland sections contain exposed tree roots and marshals and checkpoints are normally positioned on the route; competitors must follow the marked course and pass checkpoints in sequence.

Entry is available by pre-entry or on the day if not full, with an entry fee of £8 for pre-entry and an overall entry limit of 250. Minimum age is 18. Facilities at the pavilion include toilets, showers and changing rooms; water is available but runners should bring their own cup or bottle. The event is held under FRA rules and organisers may require competitors to carry FRA Best Practice kit such as a waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Limited parking is available and car sharing, walking, cycling or public transport are encouraged.

Prizes are awarded inside the bar area and include top three male and female, first Totley runner, age-group prizes and spot prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
