Event Information

The Assault on BlackRock is a trail race covering approximately seven miles. The route involves significant climbing, with a total elevation gain of 2,770 feet. Participants run to the summit of BlackRock at 5,810 feet, which marks the halfway point of the course.

Course Details

The course travels through spruce forests along the Plott Balsam Mountains. It uses rocky and dirt roads as well as single-track trails. The final approach to the summit ridge includes a steep climb of 650 feet in about one-third of a mile.

Awards and Challenges

Awards are presented to the top three overall female and male finishers. Awards are also given to the top female and male "Masters" finishers (age 50 and over).

There is an additional challenge called the BlackRock 101 Challenge. Runners who finish the course in 101 minutes or less receive a belt buckle. The first participant to finish the race in under one hour on race day receives a $400 cash award.

A T-shirt is guaranteed to runners who register before March 1, 2026.

Beneficiary
