Chestnut Chase is a trail 10K held at Chestnut Mountain Nature Park, 2415 Asheville Highway, Canton, NC. The event is a fundraising race; all proceeds support NCMTR and the Chestnut Mountain Foundation. Chestnut Mountain Nature Park is a 450-acre property purchased in 2020 by the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy. Trail design and park planning involved Equinox Environmental and Elevated Trail Design.

Course and event logistics

The course starts with a rough 600 foot gain in the first two miles up Papertown Express, continues with rolling hills on the Old Timer trail, and finishes with a downhill return on a lollipop-style route. There is one aid station at the intersection of the lollipop course, passed at about mile 1.5 and again at about mile 4.6, providing water, light snacks, and backcountry medical support. Timing is manual; bibs are not chipped and must be worn visibly for visual finish confirmation. Parking is on-site and supported by the Town of Canton. A make-up day is reserved for Sunday, November 23, 2025, in case of rescheduling. Registration closes on Friday, November 7 at 11:59 PM ET.
