The Seven Sisters 25K is a mountain trail race around the East and West ridges of the Montreat Wilderness. The course covers approximately 25 kilometers (about 15 miles) and crosses multiple peaks and overlooks, including Lookout Rocks, Rocky Head, Graybeard, Rattlesnake Rocks, and the Seven Sisters on the West Ridge Trail.
Key event numbers include roughly 4,000 feet of elevation gain and about 95 percent trail surface. The event has a five hour time limit. Aid stations are located at about mile 4 and mile 8 with cutoffs at those stations.
Prior trail running experience is required to participate. Runners must carry required gear at all times, specifically a rain shell, at least a 20 ounce water carrying device, a whistle, a cell phone, and an emergency blanket. The race is held cupless and there is no parking at the start; parking is provided at designated sites nearby and the start/finish area is approximately a one third mile walk from parking.
Pre-race packet pickup is available in downtown Black Mountain and race day pickup is provided. Awards include handmade prizes for the top three male and female finishers and a finisher award for all finishers. Refunds are granted minus a $20 fee up to 60 days before the event; transfers or deferments are not allowed. If the race must be canceled, it will be run virtually on the actual course without refunds or transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
