Seven Sisters 25k
The Seven Sisters 25k is a mountain trail run in the Montreat Wilderness near Montreat, North Carolina, held on April 11, 2026. The course runs along the East and West ridges and crosses multiple named peaks and overlooks.
The course distance is approximately 25 kilometers (about 14.5 to 15 miles) with roughly 4,000 feet of elevation gain. Most of the route is singletrack trail, with about 1 mile of pavement. The published time limit is approximately 5 hours.
The route leaves pavement after the opening stretch and follows the Montreat Wilderness Trail system. Early trail miles are relatively mellow, then climbing and technical terrain increase around Lookout Trail. The route passes Lookout Rocks, Rocky Head, Graybeard, Rattlesnake Rocks, and the Seven Sisters section along the West Ridge Trail. Trails include steep uphill and downhill sections with many roots and rocks.
Aid stations are located at about 4 and 8 miles. They provide at minimum water and Gatorade and typically offer foods such as bananas, potato chips, pretzels, and M&Ms.
The event requires prior trail running experience. Mandatory equipment includes a rain shell, at least a 20 ounce water carrying device, a whistle, a cell phone, and an emergency blanket. Race rules require staying on marked trails, not cutting switchbacks, following trail etiquette, and obeying race officials. The event is cupless. There is no parking at the start; designated parking areas are provided and the start/finish area is about a third of a mile from parking.
Pre-race packet pickup is held at Mountain Running Company in downtown Black Mountain on the Friday before the race; race-day pickup is also available. Top three male and female overall receive handmade awards. All finishers receive a finishers award.
Refunds are granted minus $20 up to 60 days before the event. No transfers or deferments are allowed at any time.
