Papertown Trail Races

The Papertown Trail Races take place at Chestnut Mountain Nature Park in Canton, North Carolina. This trail running event features two distances through wooded terrain. Both races start and finish at the Chestnut Mountain Bridge area. Participants can choose between the following distances:

  • 10 km (Approximately 6.2 miles)
  • 20 km (Approximately 9 miles)

The 10 km course follows a route from the Bridge Area to Berm Park via the Papertown Express trail. It continues onto the Old Timer and Turnpike trails before returning to the finish line via Papertown Express. The course is marked with signs at every turn. One aid station is available on the course providing water, though runners are encouraged to carry their own fluids and nutritional supplies.

The event utilizes chip timing, with the timing chips attached to the back of the race bibs. Prizes are awarded to the top 10 male and female finishers in each race. Post-race water and light snacks are provided at the finish line. Parking is available at the Chestnut Mountain parking lot. While dogs are permitted in the parking and start-stop areas, they are not allowed on the race course itself.

Registration opens several months in advance and closes a few days before the event. On-site registration is also available on the morning of the race at Chestnut Mountain Nature Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
