The Railway Races presented by Aetna are an inaugural running event on September 12, 2026, centered on the Ecusta Trail in Hendersonville. The course begins and ends at the Hendersonville Welcome Center and follows a paved greenway with gentle grades on an easy-to-follow out-and-back route.
Distances offered include:
- 5K timed event
- 1 Mile fun run and walk
Event operations include professional chip timing using MyLaps with a timing chip on the back of the race bib and timing mats on course. The route is well marked and a GPS route is available. All finishers receive a custom inaugural finisher medal and there are awards for overall and age group winners. Complimentary race photos will be provided.
Participant options and policies noted for this event include a virtual participation option with mailed shirts and finisher items, the ability to transfer an in-person registration into the virtual option up until the start of the event, and a no refund policy. The event is stroller friendly and dog friendly when dogs are kept on short leashes. The Railway Races support the nonprofit Bike.Walk.HVL.
