Arches Marathon and Half
Arches Marathon and Half is a trail running event in Moab, Utah, staged around the Behind the Rocks Wilderness Study Area. The event offers multiple distances and runs on sandy double track, jeep roads, and desert meadow trails that pass Picture Frame Arch and provide views of red cliffs and expansive canyons.
Distances:
- 50K
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 15K
Aid stations are water only at several remote locations. Supply transport to these stations is provided by Dan Mick Jeep Tours; drivers remain on site but are not race staff and will not assist runners. The event is cup-less, so runners are expected to bring reusable cups or fill bottles and hydration bladders at water dispensers located at the start/finish and at each aid station.
Course elevations vary by distance. Examples from published course data include the 50K with a highest point near 5726 feet and about 2979 feet of elevation gain, the marathon with about 2644 feet of gain, the half marathon ranging from roughly 5184 to 5727 feet with about 1178 feet of gain, and the 15K with about 745 feet of gain.
The start and finish share the same location near Behind the Rocks Trail. Mad Moose Base Camp offers free camping exclusively for participants and their families at the race base. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
