Among The Pines Backyard Ultra

Among The Pines Backyard Ultra is held in Gisburn Forest and Stocks beside the main Gisburn Forest car park. The race base is at Stephen Park Group Accommodation, set among pine-lined trails and forest fire roads within the Forest of Bowland.

Runners complete a fully off road loop that follows forest tracks and flowing trail sections. A new lap starts each hour; runners who finish a lap within the hour may start the next lap. The event continues in this format until a single runner remains.

The field is limited to a maximum of 200 entrants, creating a compact race environment for runners, crews, and spectators. The course is described as runnable with smooth rolling terrain and scenic woodland surroundings, offering a forest ultra atmosphere throughout.

Prize money is allocated to the overall winner, assist and top female, with an additional prize for any runner who progresses beyond 100 mile. Entry includes an entry ticket, a bespoke DNF metal mug, a winner’s trophy and mug for the winner, pitch space at Stephen Park to set up a race basecamp, parking for one car, drinks and snacks, and access to hot and cold water.
