The 20 Barriers Race is a scenic 5-mile running event held annually in Carnforth, known as the "Gateway to the Lake District." The course features field paths, trails, and canal towpaths through the countryside south of Carnforth, crossing multiple stiles and field boundaries—hence the name "20 Barriers." The route includes a traditional loop through the old Lundsfield quarry area and follows marked trails to Kellet Road canal bridge. The race supports local youth charities, with entry fees collected on the night. Participants are advised to wear trail or studded shoes. The event offers a friendly atmosphere with goody bags and spot prizes for top finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
