Trail Running calendar near Sunderland 2026-2027

Run the Dun Holm Challenge in Durham on scenic trails along the River Wear with stunning cathedral views. Choose distances from a 3 km minimum to ultras or take the multi day Time Challenge, earn themed medals and enjoy lap aid stations.

The Hardmoors 200 is a brutal but beautiful 200 mile ultramarathon across the Yorkshire Wolds and North York Moors, running 22 to 24 May 2026. Runners have 60 hours to conquer coastal cliffs, moorland climbs and epic views.

Join Day 2 of the Dun Holm Challenge, a 7 hour timed run around the River Wear with flat laps and Cathedral views. Choose from a 3 km finisher up to ultras and 50 km, with aid stations, toilets and vegan options.

Race scenic but testing trails through Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District on 24 May 2026, with panoramic lake and mountain views plus steep climbs and fast descents. Half marathon or 10K, medal, refreshments and canicross welcome.

A short but testing fell race in Coniston, about 1.6 km with roughly 270 m of climb, featuring a steep ascent and a scree descent. It is a BOFRA counter with on the day entry and races for junior categories.

Take on the Glaramara Fell Race on Sun 24 May 2026 in the Lake District, starting from Glaramara Outdoor Centre at Seatoller. The 8 km course packs 700 m of climb and entry on the day is free with donations to charity.
