Hardmoors 26.2 Saltburn Trail Marathon
The event takes place on Sunday 7 February 2027 at Huntcliff Secondary School, Marske Mill Lane, Saltburn by the Sea TS12 1HJ (what3words: wiggles.trusts.airfields). It is held under an ARC permit 27/0010 and has a maximum field of 330 runners.
Distances offered
- 28 miles (Trail Marathon)
- 14.5 miles (Half Marathon)
- 7.5 miles (Trail 10k)
Each distance has an overall ascent and a time limit: the marathon shows about 4000 ft ascent with a 9 hour limit, the half about 2200 ft with a 5 hour limit, and the 10k about 1030 ft with a 3 hour limit. There is a checkpoint cutoff at Trout Hall Lane (CP3); marathon runners who miss this checkpoint will be directed onto the half marathon route.
Entry opens for voucher holders on 19 April 2026 and for general entries on 26 April 2026. Entries close 15 January 2027. Prices start from £31 and include a small donation to the Cleveland Way National Trail; a series t shirt is available to purchase for £10.
Races are not marked so competitors must download, print and carry the route description and map. Mandatory kit includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hat, gloves, survival bag or foil blanket, spare long sleeve base layer, and printed route materials; a headtorch and 500 ml of water are mandatory for the marathon. Failure to carry required kit may lead to disqualification.
Additional rules note no dogs, no refunds, no deferrals, and limited options to transfer a place through SI Entries when the race is full. Prize categories include male and female places and veteran age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
