Trail Running calendar near Sunderland 2026-2027

A trail half marathon from Levisham Village Hall across the North York Moors, passing through the Hole Of Horcum. The circa 13.1 mile route has two checkpoints, a five hour time limit and a mandatory kit requirement.

Scenic trail runs beside Alnwick Castle with 10 km and half marathon options, live chip timing, free parking and finishers' medals; the event donates £4 from each entry to NE Youth.

Trail runs at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden on 28 February 2027 offer 5km, 10km and half marathon distances with live chip timing. Canicross is allowed and finishers receive a medal, merchandise, snack and drink.

March 2027

A fully tracked 30 mile trail event in Morland near Penrith on 6 March 2027, with mixed off road terrain, about 3000 ft of ascent and four checkpoints. Walkers are welcome and a 12 hour time limit is provided.

A night time trail event at Kielder Waterside where runners follow marked routes under gold tier dark skies; multiple distances are offered and entries range from £23 to £70. Volunteers, aid stations and a heated teepee feature in the event..

A flat out and back on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal towpath from Granary Wharf, offering distances from 10K to ultra marathon with regular feed stations and Trail Running Association licensing.

Lakeland Paws: Grizedale Growl is a named event in the Lakeland Paws series by Green Space Events Ltd, listed for Sun 1 Nov 26 and Sun 3 Jan 27. It is one of several seasonal events in the Lakeland Paws programme.

Trail running at Leighton Hall in the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape with a 10k and two half marathon formats. Courses use mainly hard packed trails with water stations, marshals, on site parking and no dogs allowed.

A 31.7 mile off road fell race around Haworth, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge with about 1615 m of climb. It crosses remote moorland, requires FRA mandatory kit and navigation skills, and raises funds for local charities.

A Punk Panther organised trail endurance event using hand picked routes and GPX files. Ultramarathon entrants receive trackers, checkpoints offer drinks and vegan or gluten free snacks, and competitors must carry a specified safety kit.

A trail race following the Welcome Way around Otley with distances from 13 to 50 miles across moorland, rivers and reservoirs. Checkpoints, trackers for ultras and a required kit list are provided.

Coastal ultra from Bamburgh Castle to Druridge Bay Country Park with 54 km and 27 km options, live chip timing, feed stations along the route, and a pre race shuttle service from the finish to the starts.

Trail races return to Grasmere in March 2027 with 5km, 10km and a new half marathon route around Grasmere and Rydal. The event is canicross friendly and includes chip timing, a medal and post race refreshments.

A 53 mile ultramarathon from Guisborough to Helmsley across the North York Moors with 2300 m ascent, a 16 hour limit, compulsory kit and strict checkpoint and crew rules.

A point to point 160 km mountain ultra from Patterdale to The Lion Inn following Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, with a 60 hour cut off, live tracking, staffed checkpoints, and ITRA endurance points.

Brough Law is a race with site pages for course and location, an entry form, and published results including a 2026 results PDF; the site also lists previous winners and provides local area information.

Night trail event around Swinsty and Fewston reservoirs offering Half Marathon, 10 km and 5 km options. Limited to 150 entrants; headtorch and mobile phone required; water available mid-race and at the finish.

April 2027

A trail run and walk at Guisborough Rugby Club on Saturday 3 April 2027 supporting Teesside Samaritans. Options include a 10 km walk or run and a half marathon on the official Samaritans Way, with profits donated to the charity.

A 26 miles anti clockwise loop around Allendale, Northumberland, organised by North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team to raise funds. The route crosses Hard Rigg, Black Hill and Kilhope Law and returns via Spartylea, The Drag and Ladlewell.

A third year trail running event on 3 April 2027 at Yorkshire Cycle Hub raising funds for mental health. About 10 km with 1100 ft ascent, limited to 100 entries, age 16 plus, and dogs welcome.
