Ultra Tour Yorkshire Dales
The Ultra Tour Yorkshire Dales (UTYD) is a self-navigated event held in the Yorkshire Dales, starting and finishing in the village of Grassington at the Devonshire Institute. Participants navigate a course that includes runnable trails and boggy moorland, visiting notable landmarks such as Malham Tarn, Buckden Pike, and portions of the Dales Way.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- 100 km: A 24 hour challenge with a total ascent of 2,860 meters.
- 50 km: An ultra-distance course with GPX files provided for navigation.
- 25 km: A fixed-route course where participants must follow the provided GPX.
This is a low-key event with no way markers and few marshals. For the 100 km and 50 km distances, participants have route choices between checkpoints as long as they avoid out-of-bounds areas. Map reading and navigation skills are required for entry. The minimum age for registration is 20 years.
Included in the entry are GPX files, live tracking and timing, and aid stations providing hot and cold food and drinks. Finishers receive a meal and a UTYD gift. Participants are required to follow a specific kit list and adhere to cut-off times at designated checkpoints. Registration is available on the Friday evening and Saturday morning prior to the start.
