Ultra Tour Yorkshire Dales 50k (UTYD)
The Ultra Tour Yorkshire Dales 50k (UTYD) is a self navigated 50 km event based in Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. The course has approximately 1260 m of total ascent and is open to walkers and runners. Minimum age is 20.
The route passes Malham Tarn, Buckden Pike and sections of the Dales Way, moving through Dales villages and finishing along the Dales Way back to Grassington. Terrain includes runnable trails, boggy moorland and steep climbs between valleys, giving a mix of surfaces and gradients.
A GPX file is provided for the 50k. GPX files are also available for the 100k and 25k events in the same weekend. Route choice between checkpoints is permitted for the longer distances where event rules allow; the 25k is a fixed route and the GPX must be followed. The event is largely unmarked with few marshals, so map reading, navigation skills and fell experience are required. There are checkpoint cut offs and participants must adhere to them; CP3 is located at mile 15.5.
Included for participants are route GPX, live tracking and timing, aid stations with hot and cold food and drinks, a finisher meal and an UTYD gift. Entry fees differ by affiliation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
