Event Overview

The Ultra Tour Yorkshire Dales (UTYD) is a long-distance event starting and finishing in Grassington. The course passes through several locations in the Yorkshire Dales, including Malham Tarn, Buckden Pike, and various villages. Participants follow runnable trails and boggy moorland with sections along the Dales Way.

The event is open to both runners and walkers. Participants should note that for the longer distances, the event is self-navigated without way markers or marshals along the route. Map reading and navigation skills on fells are required. While a GPX file is provided, participants may choose their own routes between checkpoints as long as they avoid out-of-bounds areas.

Available distances include:

  • 100 km
  • 50 km (1,260 m total ascent)
  • 25 km (Fixed route following the GPX)

The 50 km route includes a checkpoint at mile 15.5 with a time limit for departure. The event provides live tracking, timing, and aid stations offering hot and cold food and drinks. Participants receive a finisher meal and a gift. Registration takes place at the Grassington Devonshire Institute. All participants must be at least 20 years old on the day of the event.
