Yippee-Ki-Yay Races

The Yippee-Ki-Yay Races include a 50K, Half Marathon and 10K held on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail with start and finish at the Iowa West Foundation Trail Head Park in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The trail is a converted rails-to-trails route with a fine crushed limestone surface; the 50K course is described as roughly 90% rail trail and 10% pavement. All courses are out-and-back.

Field size is limited to 200 runners in total: 50 spots for the 50K, 100 for the Half Marathon, and 50 for the 10K. Each race is chip-timed and there is a 9 hour course time limit. Aid stations provide water, Honey Stinger sports drink, Honey Stinger gels, and after 10 miles Ultra Food on the 50K course. Participants receive a finisher medal and a long-sleeve lightweight race hoodie; additional swag is included. An opening offering provides a water bottle and a nutrition bundle to the first 50 registered runners.

Packet pickup is scheduled for 10/22 (location TBD) and 10/23 at Dick's Sporting Goods in Council Bluffs, with no race day packet pickup. There are no refunds or transfers. A drop-down option allows registered 50K runners to switch to the Half Marathon but they are not eligible for awards if they drop down. Celebrate Earth Day with a trail run or nature hike at the Hitchcock Nature Center. Support bird conservation through the Peregrine Fund while enjoying a dog friendly atmosphere with music and awards.
