Yippee-Ki-Yay Races - Council Bluffs, IA

The Yippee-Ki-Yay Races on October 24, 2026 are staged at the Iowa West Foundation Trail Head Park in Council Bluffs. The event offers three distances run largely on the Historic Wabash Trace Nature Trail, a converted rails-to-trails route with a fine crushed limestone surface.

Distances

  • 50K (31 miles)
  • Half Marathon
  • 10K

Each course is an out-and-back on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail. The 50K course is approximately 90% rail trail and 10% pavement. Aid stations provide water, Honey Stinger sports drink, Honey Stinger gels, and Ultra Food for 50K runners after about 10 miles. All races are chip-timed and the event uses a 9 hour course time limit for the 50K.

Field size is limited to 200 runners total with allocated spots: 50 for the 50K, 100 for the Half Marathon, and 50 for the 10K. There are no refunds or transfers. Registered 50K runners may drop down to the Half Marathon but will not be eligible for awards and will not receive refunds or credits.

Participants receive a finisher medal and a long sleeve lightweight race hoodie. The first 50 registered runners receive a water bottle and a special edition nutrition bundle valued at $25. Packet pickup is scheduled on October 22 and 23 with no race day pickup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
