Middleville, United States • 3 Jan 2026

Event overview

The Yankee Springs Winter Challenge is scheduled for January 3, 2026 at the Long Lake Outdoor Center, 10370 Gun Lake Rd, Middleville, MI. Distances offered are:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • 25k
  • 50k

The 5k, 10k, and 25k are single loops. The 50k is two laps of the 25k.

Course and aid stations

Courses are rolling, mostly wooded single-track trail with lake views. Aid stations are spaced about 2 to 4 miles apart. There is one aid station on the 10k course and three on the 25k course; 25k runners pass one of those stations twice on the 50k. A start/finish aid station is available for 50k runners. Aid stations provide water, Gatorade, Coke, oranges, bananas, and a variety of sweet and salty snacks.

Logistics and entry

The Long Lake Outdoor Center is closed for the winter under new management, so the start/finish area will look different; a heated tent will be used for registration and post-race food. Cabins are not available for this winter race; several hotels are nearby. A crew neck sweatshirt or a buff is included with the race fee; registering by December 8 guarantees a sweatshirt. Pacers are allowed for 50k runners on the second loop, must sign a waiver, may use aid station food and drinks, and should step off the course before the finish line. Fees vary by distance and registration date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
