Yankee Springs Trail Run

The Yankee Springs Trail Run takes place the weekend of May 29-30, 2026 at the Long Lake Outdoor Center in Middleville, MI. The event offers multiple trail distances on single-track routes that run through park trails and loop sections around McDonald Lake.

Runners may choose from these distances:

  • 10k
  • 25k
  • 50k (two laps of the 25k course)
  • 100k (four laps of the 25k course)

The trails feature notable hills, rocks, and roots. The 10k course has 978 feet of elevation gain and the 25k course has 1,388 feet of elevation gain. Trails drain well and there are no water crossings on the courses. Both 10k and 25k courses start at the Long Lake Outdoor Center and use Hall Lake Trail, Mountain Bike Trail, and sections of the North Country Trail to return.

Aid stations are spaced about 2 to 4 miles apart. The 10k course has one aid station, the 25k has three, and there is an additional aid station at the start/finish with a drop bag area. Pacers are allowed for ultras with restrictions: 50k runners may have a pacer on the second lap, and 100k runners may have pacers on the third and fourth laps; pacers must check in and sign a waiver and should not cross the finish line.

Lodging options at the Outdoor Center include cabins for four or five people and summer-camp style bunks. A bath house with warm showers, basic electrical power, and outhouses are available; participants should bring their own bedding or sleeping bag.
