Women’s Series - Benbulben Forest Trail

The event is a marked trail run at Benbulben in County Sligo, organised by volunteers. The main route is a 5.5 km loop with 167 m of climb, and a 4.0 km short course that links back to the main path. The route is marked throughout with yellow and red IMRA flags and tape.

The course starts on a gravel path that rises slightly and leads into woodland, then veers left into a downhill section toward the sea with views over the Atlantic, Innismurray, Classiebawn Castle in Mullaghmore and, on clear days, Slieve League. Runners then bear right to follow a newer meandering path downhill, move into a slight uphill, pass the ruins of a Cashel and return through native woodland to the finish at the lower car park.

Mandatory kit includes a showerproof windproof jacket which must be carried or worn for the entire race. Required items may be checked and failure to have them can lead to denial of entry or disqualification. GPS devices are not allowed. Paper cups only will be provided for water and refill jugs will be available; participants are asked to use a single cup and follow Leave No Trace principles. A large car park is available beneath Benbulben; parking must not block access gates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
