Sliabh Daeane - Ox Mountains
Sliabh Daeane in County Sligo hosts a mountain running event on Wednesday 3 June 2026. Two course options are provided, with a total climb of 288 m and an event difficulty rated 6 (2,2,2) indicating moderate terrain and an expected ascent range of 200 m to 500 m over 6 km to 10 km. Race marking is limited to only major junctions and GPS is allowed. The event is part of the North West League. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries close Wednesday 3rd June 2026 at 12:00 and 29 of 250 places are entered.

The route is mainly off road and includes forest paths, wooded trails and rock runs; the longer course also includes a boggy section up to the summit. Courses were updated following tree felling on the original route. Mandatory kit is Level B and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The kit to be carried may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Runners must have means to carry required kit; failure to carry required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification. Prizegiving will be held at Callaghan’s Pub nearby.
