Wolf Moon Trail Half Marathon

The Wolf Moon Trail Half Marathon is a trail race held on 3 January 2026. The event is named for the Wolf Moon, the full moon in January. The course is an out-and-back route that runs through Sutton Spring Wood, climbs to the Five Pits Trail and then undulates to a turning loop. An aid station is located at the turning loop. Finishers receive a Wolf Moon medal. The finish area offers cake and hot drinks by a campfire.

Practical information

Race headquarters are at Rock Lane in Sutton Scarsdale. Free car parking is available at Race HQ, the lane and Sutton Scarsdale Hall. The minimum age to enter is 18 or older. Entries open 11 July 2025 and close 27 December 2025. Entry fees are £25 for UKA members and £27 for non-members. Entries so far: 42 participants.

The event has a 3 hour 30 minute time limit. There is an optional 30 minute earlier start for slower athletes or for those who do not feel confident running at dusk or in the dark; this is not a competitive wave start and is not intended for runners who expect to finish inside 2 hours 30 minutes. Trail runs nearby

See in the New Year with a tough 8 km Peak District race from The Beehive in Glossop, featuring about 400 m of climb across scenic trails. Teams welcome and warming hot food will be available afterwards.
