Winter Solstice Vertical Challenge : December 20, 2025
The event takes place at the Mt. Walker trailhead in Quilcene, WA, inside Olympic National Forest. It is organized in a fatass style, where participants may run or hike as many laps as they wish. Aid will be available at the trailhead and nutrition is donated by Skratch Labs. A photographer will be on course. Dogs are allowed if kept on a leash and cleaned up after. A portion of event proceeds will be donated to the Washington Trail Association; a suggested donation is $20. No parking pass is required.

The course has about 2,100 feet of elevation gain, with a minimum elevation of 784 feet and a maximum elevation of 2,797 feet. Repeating the route increases total distance by additional round-trip increments. Registration is handled via the event's Facebook listing; registration status is noted as coming soon.
