Course, aid and series details

The course is a loop that is almost entirely in old growth forest on the Seward Park peninsula. The route starts on a wide main trail that is flat-to-rolling and then dips downhill toward the peninsula tip. The return follows smaller trails that climb and traverse the western side of the peninsula, including a short twisty section with small fallen trees, roots, and other surface irregularities. An aid station is located adjacent to the start/finish area; 4.2-mile runners pass it once and 10k runners pass it twice. Aid station supplies include water, electrolyte drink, and a variety of carbohydrate-rich or salty foods. Participation in four or more Winter Trail Series events earns a limited edition pair of series socks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
