Seward Solstice Run (December 20, 2025)
The Seward Solstice Run is a trail event at Seward Park in Seattle offering two distances:
- 4.2-mile
- 10k
The event is the fourth race in the 2025-26 Winter Trail Series. A costume contest is part of the event; one winner from each distance receives a free entry to a future Northwest Trail Runs race.
Course, support and series information
The course is a loop that is almost entirely in forest on the Seward Park peninsula. The route starts on a wide, smooth main trail that is flat-to-rolling, then dips downhill toward the tip of the peninsula. Before the waterfront promenade the course turns onto smaller trails on the western side of the peninsula. A few-hundred-meter section on the return is twisty with small fallen trees, roots and bumps; the trail widens and straightens again toward the end of the loop.
An aid station is adjacent to the start/finish; 4.2-mile runners pass it once and 10k runners pass it twice. Aid station supplies include water, electrolyte drink, and a selection of carbohydrate-rich or salty foods (for example cookies, pieces of energy bar, gels, chews, bagels, fig bars, and bananas). The start/finish is located close to the park’s second parking lot; when entering the park pass the first lot near the beach and pottery studio and continue up Seward Park Rd until the next lot on the right.
Series notes: the Winter Trail Series ranks runners by their best four performances. Runners who participate in four or more series events earn limited edition series socks. Runners under 20 receive a $10 discount on registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
