Twilight at the Bay

Twilight at the Bay is an evening road running event held on the Chambers Bay Loop Trail in University Place, Washington. The event offers three distances and is USATF sanctioned. The trail passes along views of Puget Sound and uses paved loops around the Chambers Bay course.

The course is a wide, paved loop with flat sections, inclines, and switchbacks. Each loop has about 230 feet of elevation gain and runs clockwise. Distances determine the number and type of loops:

  • 5k: one paved loop on the Chambers Bay trail.
  • 10k: two loops of the paved trail.
  • Half marathon: one longer loop plus three additional loops.

Aid stations are provided, including one just over half the loop (about mile 1.7) and the Start/Finish aid at about mile 3.1. Aid stations will offer water and Gatorade; the Start/Finish aid will also have energy gels. Participants may drop a bag at the start/finish area. Packet pick-up and day-of registration are available at the start/finish; advanced packet pick-up is not offered. Parking is in the Central Meadows lot or the North Driving Range lot. The venue has previously hosted the US Open.

Policies noted for the event: strollers are permitted but must stay toward the back for safety. Dogs are not allowed due to USATF certification and insurance. There is a zero tolerance policy for leaving trash on the course; littering can result in disqualification. All finishers receive event swag and a custom finisher medal. Registrations are final with no refunds; distance changes are possible up to two weeks before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
