Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series #3

Cougar Mountain Trail Run Series #3 takes place on July 11, 2026 at King County’s Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park in Newcastle, Washington, about 15 minutes from Seattle. The event is part of the 21st annual series organized by Seattle Running Club and Northwest Trail Runs and offers multiple race distances over natural trail terrain.

The courses run through lush forest and fern-lined single-track, with rolling, runnable hills and a mix of narrow, technical tread and wider groomed trails. Routes pass over hills and along marshes within the regional park. Distances offered include:

  • 5 km
  • 10.8 miles
  • 19.5 miles

The series has a fundraising history, having raised over $250,000 for King County Parks and contributed many hundreds of hours of trail work. Online pre-registration is available until Wednesday, July 8, and event-day registration is also available. A series competition applies: runners must compete in at least three of the four races of either the Short Series or the Long Series to be eligible for series standings, and scores from the two series may not be mixed.
