Course and support

The course begins on a wide trail then continues on swoopy, twisting single track. Runners descend to the water and follow the shoreline before climbing back uphill. The 4-mile option is one loop; the 8-mile option is two loops. An aid station is located next to the finish and offers water, an electrolyte drink, and carbohydrate- or salty-food options such as cookies, energy bar pieces, gels, chews, chips, bagels, fruity candy, fig bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and bananas.

Logistics, rules and series details

Parking is available in the park lots near the start/finish/registration area; the closest lot is reserved for hotel staff. If park lots fill, the Bastyr University northwest lot may be used and is about a 0.4 mile (0.7 km) walk to event headquarters. A Discover Pass is required to park at St. Edward State Park; Bastyr’s northwest lot does not require a Discover Pass. Dogs are not allowed on the course. Trails remain open to other users. Runners under 20 receive a $10 registration discount. Participation in four or more Winter Trail Series events earns a free pair of series socks. Series standings use each runner’s best four performances; at least three scores are required to be eligible for awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
