The event takes place at Robert H. Hodge Park, 7000 NE Barry Rd, Kansas City, Missouri. Two course options are offered for runners and walkers:

Course and event details

The course is described as well-marked and passes through Shoal Creek Historical Village, across fields, along wooded paths, and over hills. The 2025 event features a new 5-mile route with increased single-track trail sections. Walkers and hikers are explicitly welcome.

After the race, participants are offered warm soup and a commemorative Wilderness Run mug, and campfires will be available at the site. Participants who register before October 17, 2025 are guaranteed a mug and a long sleeve T-shirt. Reviews note technical single-track sections, leaf-covered paths and steep hills, and mention volunteers providing post-race food and assistance.
