Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a three-race trail running series held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The series runs from December into January and offers both Short Series and Long Series options. The series bundle is capped at 250 runners and registration closes December 18.
The three events and distances are:
- Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile, 10 Mile
- Frozen Trash Panda: 10K, Half Marathon
- Frozen Goat: 15K, 30K
Courses include bluff views, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, and granola bars. Marco's Pizza is a sponsor and provides pizza at the finish of each race. Shirts are short sleeve tri-blend and series entries include a series t-shirt, finisher awards, and a series plaque.
Packet pickup is available the day before each race and on race mornings; a local race office address is listed for pickup. Age groups are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. The Long Series has a 17 minute per mile cutoff and organizers state there are very loose cutoffs. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits, or transfers and leftover shirts are not mailed.
