Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series

The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a three-race trail running series held in the mountains around Huntsville, Alabama. The series takes place from December through January at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL 35801. Courses include bluff views, creek crossings, and waterfalls.

Aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar items. Marco's Pizza is a sponsor and pizza will be available at the finish line for participants. The race shirt is a short sleeve tri-blend.

Distances in the series:

  • Frozen Yeti: 5 Mile, 10 Mile
  • Frozen Trash Panda: 10K, Half Marathon
  • Frozen Goat: 15K, 30K

The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Short Series and Long Series bundles offer stated registration savings for early and late registration; early bird savings apply for registrations before 11/1. The default Short Series option for Frozen Goat is the 15K; participants may request a shorter option.

Packet pickup is scheduled the day before each race and there is also morning pickup on race day. Age groups are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+ for all races. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits or transfers and shirts or medals are not mailed. Cutoffs are generally loose; a 17 minute per mile cutoff applies to Long Series participants.
