Event Overview

The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a set of three trail races held in the mountains around Huntsville, Alabama, at Monte Sano State Park. The series takes place from December through January.

Race Distances

The series includes two distance options: a Short Series and a Long Series. The individual races are:

  • Frozen Yeti (December 20, 2025): 5 Mile and 10 Mile
  • Frozen Trash Panda (January 3, 2026): 10K and Half Marathon
  • Frozen Goat (January 17, 2026): 15K and 30K

Course and Support

The courses feature bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations on the course will provide water, Gatorade, cola, GU energy gels, pretzels, M&M's, and granola bars. Marco's Pizza is a series sponsor, and pizza will be available for participants at each finish line.

Registration and Details

Registration for the series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Signing up for a series bundle provides a discount compared to individual race registration. All series registrants receive a series t-shirt, finisher awards, and a series plaque. The default short series race for the Frozen Goat event is the 15K.
