Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series

The Winter Wild Thangs Trail Series is a three-race trail series held at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville, AL. The series runs from December into January and offers both short and long race options across three events.

The races and distances:

• Frozen Yeti - 5 Mile, 10 Mile (December 20, 2025)
• Frozen Trash Panda - 10K, Half Marathon (January 3, 2026)
• Frozen Goat - 15K, 30K (January 17, 2026)

Courses include bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are provided with water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and other items. Marco's Pizza is a series sponsor and pizza will be available at each finish line.

Logistics note the venue address as 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL 35801. The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Registration closes on Fri, Dec 18 at 11:59PM CT. Short Series and Long Series bundles offer specified early bird and late registration discounts and include a series t-shirt, finisher awards and a series plaque. The race shirt is a short sleeve tri-blend.

Packet pickup is scheduled on the Fridays before each race from 12pm to 5pm; packets may also be picked up the morning of each race from 6:00am to 6:45am at RunningLane. Age groups for all races are 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. There are very loose cutoffs; Long Series participants should note a 17 minute per mile cutoff, and the organizers suggest the Short Series for those unable to maintain roughly 15 minute miles.
