Event Details

The Conquer the Cave 5K takes place at Cathedral Caverns State Park in Woodville, Alabama. The course starts in a valley with mountains and fields. After 1.9 miles, runners enter a cave for an out-and-back section of 0.6 miles. This section inside the cave is wide enough for two-way traffic and has decorative lighting.

Runners receive a glow stick at the turnaround point inside the cave. The event uses a wave start system with five separate waves, each limited to 200 participants. Waves begin at staggered times.

Course & Conditions

The course is a 5K distance. The event has a cutoff time of 1 hour and 5 minutes to ensure continuous movement inside the cave. Walkers are welcome. Typical September race day temperatures are between 54°F and 79°F. Inside the cave, the temperature is a constant 58°F year-round.

Participant Information

All participants receive a short sleeve tri-blend shirt and a finisher medal. Age group awards are given in ten-year increments. There are no refunds, credits, or transfers for entries.
