Wade Mountain Marathon

The event is a trail race weekend near Huntsville, AL, held at 10130 Spragins Hollow Rd NW. The organizer offers three distances:

  • Marathon
  • 1/2 Marathon
  • 10K

All entries include a hooded sweatshirt, a finisher medal, and a post-race meal. Course maps and elevation profiles are provided for each distance. The race uses low-traffic trails and is planned to proceed in normal rain, but the organizer may delay, alter, or cancel the event if heavy rain makes trails unsustainable; the Land Trust has final authority for land use decisions.

This is a cupless event. Runners must carry a hand-held bottle, pack, or reusable cup because paper cups will not be available at aid stations. A reusable cup can be purchased at checkout for $5 if needed.

Cutoff rules apply: the marathon has an overall cutoff of 8 hours and requires runners to pass the midway checkpoint, while the half marathon has a 6 hour cutoff. Packet pickup is available at the RunningLane store the day before the event; participants may pick up packets for other entrants. Post-race food includes grilled hamburgers and drinks available to runners.

A volunteer program offers race-entry compensation for multi-hour shifts, and waitlists are used if the event sells out. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits, or transfers on entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
