Wade Mountain Marathon

Wade Mountain Marathon is a trail event near Huntsville, Alabama, held in late October on low-traffic trails. The event offers three distances:

  • Marathon
  • Half Marathon
  • 10K

All entries include a hooded sweatshirt, finisher medal and a post-race meal. The race operates as a cupless event; participants must carry a handheld bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for five dollars.

Packet pickup is available the day before at the RunningLane store, with late packet pickup on race morning. Age-group awards and overall awards are presented for each distance, including masters categories. Course maps and elevation profiles are provided for all distances.

Time limits are enforced: the marathon has an overall cutoff of eight hours and the half marathon has a six-hour cutoff. Marathon runners must reach the mid-course aid area around 14.8 miles by the midpoint checkpoint or be cut off. Race staff will monitor progress at aid stations.

The event is expected to proceed in typical fall conditions and may continue in rain or shine. Organizers may delay, alter, or cancel the event if trail conditions threaten sustainable land conservation; the land trust overseeing the property has final authority. Lodging near the race includes Monte Sano State Park, a short drive from the site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
