Chupacabra is the fourth race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series held at Monte Sano State Park, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL. The event offers trail distances with course features that include bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings and waterfalls. The organizers describe the courses as spectator friendly.

Several aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, coke, pretzels, M&M's and granola bars. The event is a cupless race; runners must carry a hand held bottle, pack or reusable cup. A RunningLane reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for five dollars.

The race is capped at 400 runners. All participants in the Chupacabra 10K and half marathon receive a t-shirt and finisher award; the race shirt is a short sleeve tri-blend and is the same shirt used for the entire series. Age groups are 0-10, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
