Chupacabra Trail Race : Event details
Chupacabra Trail Race is the fourth race in the Wild Thangs Trail Series, held in the Monte Sano State Park area in Huntsville, AL (5105 Nolen Ave SE). The event offers two measured trail distances:
- 10K
- Half marathon
The race is capped at 400 runners. All participants in the Chupacabra distances receive a short-sleeve tri-blend t-shirt and a finisher award; the same shirt design is used for the entire series. Age-group awards are organized in standard brackets: 0-10, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Courses are described as spectator friendly with bluff views, mountain scenery, creek crossings, and waterfalls. Several aid stations are placed on course offering water, Gatorade, coke, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars, and similar items. Course maps and elevation profiles are available for both distances.
This is a cupless event; runners must bring a hand-held bottle, pack, or reusable cup. A reusable cup is available for purchase at checkout for $5. Cutoffs are very loose, with a 17 minute per mile cutoff applying to Long Series participants.
